Mudgee footy mates join Herb in tasty crumble test

DREAMTIME TUKA taste testing took a surprise turn for the creator of the popular product, Herb Smith, when nine of his former football team-mates from Mudgee arrived at Wellington Woolworths to sample his Plum Crumble and Macadamia Butterscotch cake last Thursday.

And to their surprise, attending the product sampling was Woolworth’s National Merchandise Manager, Donald Keith, a former Mudgee boy who also played with the club.

Dozens of locals turned-out for the sampling, all giving positive calls for Herb’s products.

The two Dreamtime Tuka products were placed on the shelves of some 600 Woolworths supermarkets along the nation’s three Eastern Seaboard states for the first time last week.

And judging from feedback through Facebook, and phonecalls, Herb’s Tuka has been an utmost success with some stores already selling out.

Herb said it was early days before results of sales would be finally tallied, but reports had been very promising.

Dreamtime Tuka was created by Herb, who was inspired from his grandmother’s home baking recipes using native plants and seeds of which he remembers from his boyhood.
