WELLINGTON HOSPITAL Auxiliary recently hosted the United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW Inc. Regional Forum Day for the Orana Far West Region at the Wellington Community Health Centre.
State President Sally Cronberger, State Treasurer Dee Hunter and Orana Far West Regional Representative Robyn Jones attended with delegates and Auxiliary members from nine branches (Collarenebri, Dunedoo, Mudgee, Coonabarabran, Narromine, Gulgong, Dubbo, Trangie, Wellington) making the Forum Day a great success.
Following registration and morning tea, the welcome to country and official welcome was delivered by Health Service Manager Steven Dyer, who spoke about the services provided by the Wellington Hospital, the Auxiliary and their connection with the community.
The official opening was performed by state member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders, who praised the work of the Auxiliaries, their fundraising and their importance to their communities and the hospitals.
Regional representative, Robyn Jones then introduced the state president Sally Cronberger who gave her address and then together with state treasurer Dee Hunter delivered up-dates to our Policy and Procedures Manual and a powerpoint display.
It was a wonderful opportunity for Auxiliary members to have their many questions answered.
Wellington branch President, Robyn Hinton, then introduced the guest speaker, Dr Ian Spencer OAM, who was most engaging and highlighted many of the challenges faced in regional health.
During question time, Ian proved to be very informative especially in relation to some of the External Resolutions which we hope will be presented at the State Conference.
Following a most delicious lunch, the Forum was a wonderful occasion for the Wellington Auxiliary to celebrate its 96th Birthday with the singing of Happy Birthday and the cutting of a cake.
Mrs Hinton said the Wellington Hospital Auxiliary planned to continue its work for many years to come.
Branch and the Regional Representative’s reports followed. The three Resolutions were then discussed and voted on and passed to be reviewed by the Central Executive.
Branch discussions, fund raising and UHA related issues then took place.
Following the drawing of the raffle and lucky door prizes, Robyn Hinton extended a vote of thanks to all who attended the Forum Day and wished everyone a safe journey home.
“I would also like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the HSM, Steven Dyer, Hospital Staff (especially Deb for the delicious lunch) and my Auxiliary Members for helping me make the Forum Day such a success,” Mrs Hinton said.
“We can achieve so much by working together.”
