Wellington Rotary and ‘Leader’ Launch 2025 Garden Competition

Rotary Club of Wellington has joined forces with the Wellington & District Leader to invite all the green thumbs, backyard growers and even scarecrow builders to take part in the 2025 Wellington Rotary Garden Competition.

The free-to-enter competition celebrates gardens of all shapes and sizes, with categories ranging from Best Town Garden and Best Country Garden through to Best Rose Garden, Prettiest Garden Bed, Best Edible Garden, and Best Water-Wise Garden.

There are also fun categories for children, including Best Kids Patch or School Garden, and a Best Scary Scarecrow category.

Rotary president Beth Hattenfels said this year the competition was being co-sponsored by the Wellington & District Leader and was about more than just winning prizes.

“You don’t have to be a professional gardener to take part — it’s about having a go and taking pride in what you’ve created, whether it’s a single garden bed, a veggie patch, or a scarecrow with personality,” she said.

“This is a way to celebrate and appreciate the creativity and effort that local people put into their gardens.”

Entry forms are available online at

www.wellingtonrotary.com.au or can be picked up at the Wellington Library from Wednesday, September 24, or by filling-in the competition entry form on Page 6 of September 25 ‘Leader’. Then, emailing Rotary president Beth Hattenfels at: beth.hattenfels@bigpond.com
