Brook Watts and Clair Stiff at the Gulgong “Endo’ Girl’s Night Out.
All state Young Women show winners met in Dubbo for a development weekend.
WELLINGTON SHOW 2025 ‘Young Woman’, Clair Stiff has been busy promoting her passion - enlightening the region about Endometriosis.
As the Young Woman winner, Clair was invited with all state Young Women winners to attend a weekend development course at the Wesley Centre in Dubbo recently in preparation for the Sydney Royal Show Zone 6 finals to be held at Eugowra on February 28.
Back in last November Clair had the opportunity to speak about her condition as a guest speaker at an endometriosis girl’s night out at Gulgong RSL.
This was her first public speaking opportunity as Wellington’s Young Woman together with the condition’s research she is studying.
Clair said she was invited with another guest speaker and endo advocate, Brook Watts from Molong, who she said was very high up in the women’s ‘endo’ scene.
“We told our stories of our experience with ‘endo’ and I got to speak on the more clinical side as well as what my research is aiming for,” Clair said.
“Brook, who works with Youth in Ag, spoke about how the condition can affect work, and support services and the ‘Endo’ community that we have started to get going.
“From then I went and finished harvest with dad around the Wellington area.”
This was the first year all the Young Woman across the state (about 53) were invited, representing all the Sydney Young Woman competition zones.
It was a two-day development program over the weekend with past Sydney Royal Show winners leading differing workshops on public speaking, etiquette, dress, networking, also history of Ag Shows NSW and ties to Sydney Royal Show and The Land newspaper–sponsored contest.
“The workshops were designed to prepare us for the zone judging coming up in a few weeks,” Clair said.
“We had a dinner on the Saturday evening, enabling us to connect with the girls in each zone so we don’t feel isolated when we attend zone finals.
“I think there will be 20 girls who will be in my Zone 6 and I was able to meet 18 of them.”
Clair said that it was interesting for her that all the girls were like-minded, but also different in their own way.
“We were given interview preparation, which helped take out the nerves, which was good,” Clair said.
“Having past winner taking us through the course was good as we got an insight into their experiences and
making it to Sydney.”

Speaking of her experience so far, Clair said she thought this was one of the best opportunities she had been given.
“You kind of get to put your name out there a bit and represent your community which is amazing,” she said.
“I have been able to tie my research with the Young Woman Wellington title and put out my passion, my interest.
“And it’s a good opportunity to meet young women and go through the development programs that you are exposed to with the title.
“It’s a good opportunity to work with many of your skills, and even if you don’t make it to the state final or to Sydney, the experience and learning of skills along the way will help you through the rest of your life.”
Entries for the 2026 Wellington Show Young Woman competition will open shortly.
As the Wellington & District Leader is a strong supporter of the show and a sponsor of the Young Woman contest, we will be publishing more information as it comes to hand.
